Bethesda Shoot Down PS3 Oblivion Rumors...Again
By Billy Brown
Oblivion on PS3 and PSP denied
Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion coming to PS3 and PSP is a rumor that simply will not die. Quite the contrary, information keeps trickling in seeming to confirm the whispers.
Back in April, the rumors of the PS3/PSP port surfaced from a release schedule obtained by a NeoGAF member. But Bethesda ruined the fun, coldly stating "At present we have no announced plans to bring Oblivion to any platforms other than PC or Xbox 360."
Then within the last few days, hope sprung up once again in the form of online retailers. Both EB Games And Gamestop listed Oblivion for Sony machines, with both EB Games and Gamestop listing the RPG for PSP as having a $49.99 price and being released on March 17, 2007. The PS3 version is November 17, 2006 for $59.99. You can pre-order both this very moment.
So will Bethesda admit that the game is indeed coming?
Bethesda's Pete Hines told Gamepro that no, the PS3 Oblivion pages are "just an assumption" and that there are "no announced plans for any other version right now."
We'll just have to wait and see.
