Sony: Test PS3 For $12 Hourly
By Mark Renton
Time to quit the day job
On an episode of Robot Chicken, a recently deceased person had to spin a "Wheel Of Reincarnation", and was desperately hoping for the wheel to rest on the option of becoming "Keira Knightley's Underwear". Apparently, everybody had been hoping for that slot. But being the geek that I am, I would have wanted to wheel to stop on "PS3 Game Tester".
The good news is that I don't have to perish for this to occur anymore; this exact position has opened up at the Sony Computer Entertainment corporate website. The position is officially called "game check staff" and Sony says "...this position entails checking the functionality of software for the PlayStation 3, PlayStation 2, and PlayStation Portable, compiling reports, and evaluating [the games'] content."
Other requirements are that the applicants be between the ages of 20-30 (check!) start the year-long assignment starting July 18th (check!) and love games, which means I'm the ideal applicant for the job. For the record, the pay is 950 yen to 1,400 yen ($8 to $12) an hour.
Actually, whatever you do, please don't go to the Sony site and apply. This going to be my job; I called it first. When you don't see me posting after July 18th, you'll know why. And if you do see me posting after July 18th, then at least know I'll be doing it with tears in my eyes.
