PS3 Blu-ray Not Big Enough For All Of MGS4
by Billy Brown
We always knew that Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots was going to be a big game for PS3.
But we had no idea the upcoming PlayStation 3 title was going to be so big that there wouldn't be enough space on a Blu-ray disc to contain everything that Kojima productions wanted to squeeze in. After all, Blu-ray can hold 50GB worth of data.
But in an interview with Famitsu (translated by Kotaku), Hideo Kojima indicated it just wasn't enough room.
When asked if he was specifically referring to the Blu-ray capacity, he responded: "That's correct. There's not enough space at all. (laughs) ...There's not enough space. We always talked about where to cut and what to compress."
Because of the cuts, the English language track won't be on the Japanese version and vice versa. We'll still be picking the game up June 12th either way.
