Play: PS3 Tops Nintendo Wii, Xbox 360 Pre-Orders
by Craig Schwartz
Online retailer Play.com has proclaimed that PS3 pre-orders have topped both Wii and Xbox 360, making the console "the most pre-ordered console yet".
Head of games Gian Luzio told GI that PlayStation 3 orders are six times higher than Xbox 360 and a whopping fifteen times more than Wii. Play did not fulfill all of their Wii and Xbox 360 pre-orders.
"We underestimated the demand and we were very disappointed that we could not fulfil all pre-orders due to stock shortages," acknowledged Luzio.
"We know that this disappointed some of our customers and we wanted to ensure that we did not face the same situation again. We have been working hard with Sony to make sure that we can deliver every pre-order on the release date , We are pleased to be able to offer our customers the service they expect from Play.com.”
Looks like the PS3 Europe launch might be stronger than skeptics had previously proclaimed.
